So, I broke the duck... (and then some!)

Finally managed to actually get something painted yesterday, after following the advice of a couple of you on my other post. I went through my 'In Tray' of figures I've not catalogued and put away yet, and found one of the old Confrontation Bratt models, kindly given to me by a friend a while ago.

He's entirely unrelated to my other current projects, and so I give you Ludwig Von Blautoven:

I've gone with some old metal Empire infantry arms I had knocking around, which work quite well, I think. Not bad for a figure painted over the space of 8 hours. I've only got another three of these, so might pick up one or two more and make a small Necromunda gang out of them.

Whilst I was waiting for the layers/inks to dry on Ludwig, I also finished off President Kitenge's Personal Retinue for my Feral Army:

Unlike the majority of his army, these guys have modern, up to date lasguns and armour, albeit still old Imperial Guard castoffs. Again, I've gone with a very quick and lazy paintjob on these, using transfers nicked from other forces. These have been sat on my desk for months, almost finished but not quite, so it was quite a relief to get them off the desk and onto a shelf.

All I need to do now is some transport and a few heavy weapons, and the Ferals will be finished.

Hopefully I can keep this up again now, my lack of progress had been annoying me. Having said that, I'm still finding painting a struggle due to the drugs I'm on at the moment meaning my hand shakes quite badly. I'm having to tense all the muscles in my arm to stop the shakes, but there's only a limited amount of time I can do that before I get cramps. Ah well, I'm at the specialist next week, so might get some progress in that regard.

  1. He's great ! I really love the grey hair with white stripes and the blues are just brillant !
Could you tell me what those empire arms are, I'm not familiar with anything empire related and they look axactly like what I need for the 4 bratts I have.
Good to see you're back and really hope you'll feel much better soon.

    1. They're just some mid-90's vintage ones, I bought a boxful of them years ago on ebay. Most of them are holding muskets, but this guy's were command arms with a halberd/hammer thing.

This seller has the others for sale: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/spacefighter82/m.html (search for 'Empire Arms')

If they're any use, let me know and I can send you four pairs.

Hope you get better soon! Thanks for sharing your work. Amazing stuff.

  4. Way to break a block! Good start to 2016. I said I love his hair over on the FB, but looking at the freehand on his pants . . . that really is some nice work on the brat. And the Empire arms look great.
